Draw Publication

Draws will be emailed to players, available online and published in the official hotels no later than Friday, October 26th.

Draw Changes

Once the draws have been published, no change to the Singles draws will be made unless a seeded player withdraws by 4PM the day before the start of the event.  Following publication of the Doubles and Mixed Doubles draws, if a player in a doubles team is forced to withdraw due to injury or other exceptional circumstance, he/she can be replaced by another player up to but not later than the start of the first match of the doubles event.  In the case of an unseeded team, any replacement partner must, in the judgement of the Seeding Committee, be of a similar standard, otherwise the entire team shall be withdrawn and the open position shall be filled by the next eligible team to be seeded or as per Section 1, Rule 40 (Withdrawal of Seeds).

Order of Play

The Order of Play (OOP) for Saturday, October 27th will be published on the ITF Seniors website, emailed to players and published in the official hotels on Tuesday, October 23rd.  Thereafter, the OOP for the following day will be available at approximately 6PM each evening.  An updated OOP will be posted and issued once all matches for the day are completed.  Players are requested to report to the match control desk fifteen (15) minutes before their scheduled match time.  

Competition Start Date

Main Draw matches for Qualifying matches, if any, will commence on Saturday, October 27th.  All players must be available to play on this date if required.  

Entry Process & Fees

The entry process is in two parts and players must successfully complete both prior to the Entry/Withdrawal deadline.  All players must have a valid Seniors IPIN in order to enter and compete.

Part 1:

  • Enter the tournament via your IPIN account

  • Players may enter up to 3 events (one singles, one doubles, one mixed doubles);

  • Every effort will be made to ensure reasonable scheduling, however a player entering 3 events may be required to play in up to 3 matches a day where this is unavoidable.

Part 2:

  • Entry fee to be paid via the entry fee link.

Entry Fee: US $150 (includes entry into one Singles event only, one Doubles event and one Mixed Doubles event).

In accordance with the 2018 ITF Seniors Regulations, Section I, Rule 54 (Entry Fees), entries will NOT be accepted unless the entry fee of US $150 is paid in full by the Entry Deadline of Wednesday, September 26th at 14.00 hrs GMT.

Refunds: Refunds in full will be made if withdrawal is notified before the Withdrawal Deadline of Wednesday, September 26th at 14.00 hrs GMT.  If withdrawal is notified after the Withdrawal Deadline, refunds will only be made for reasons of heath, injury or bereavement.  Refunds will not be made after the Draw is published.

Match Format

Matches will start at both sites approximately 10AM each day, ending around 9PM.  

Players must be prepared to play under lights at both venues.

Singles Match Format

All singles matches will be the best of three (3) tie break sets.  


Doubles/Mixed Doubles Format

All doubles/mixed doubles matches will be the best of two (2) tie break sets and a 10 point tie break match in lieu of a third set.

All doubles entries must be made by the Entry/Withdrawal Deadline - no on-site Doubles sign-up will be offered in 2018

A players entering as 'partner wanted' will be assigned a partner by the ITF (automated process) at the Entry/Withdrawal Deadline or will be withdrawn if a partner cannot be found.  Any player who does not wish to be paired must withdraw his/her doubles entry prior to the Entry/Withdrawal Deadline. 

Singles Consolation Events

Consolation events for the first match Singles losers shall be held.  Sign-in must be made in person and telephone sign-in will not be possible.  New tennis balls will be provided for all matches.  Consolation singles matches will be the best of two (2) tie break sets and a 1o point tie break in lieu of a third set.  

ITF Seniors World Ranking points will be awarded in the Consolation event, as per the ITF Seniors Regulations 2018, Section 1, Rule 21 (ITF Points Tables for Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles Rankings). Players who receive a walkover in their first match and lose their second have the option of accepting World Championship level ranking points for the walkover win or to enter and compete in the consolation event which offers Grade 5 level ranking points.

Tennis Facilities & Court Surfaces

All competitions will take place on GREEN CLAY. 

Age categories will not necessarily be allocated to one venue and players may therefore be required to play at both venues.  Transport will be provided from the official hotels to all venues during the World Individual Championships.  It is likely that Flamingo Park Tennis Center will only be used as a venue up until Tuesday, October 30th, after which all matches will be scheduled at Miami Beach Tennis Center.  Depending on weather, all finals will take place on Saturday, November 3rd at Miami Beach Tennis Center.

On Site Player Services

Limited shower facilities are located at Miami Beach Tennis Center and Flamingo Park Tennis Center. 

A towel service is not available at any venue.

If players use towels from the official hotels, they are requested to return these the same day to avoid charges and/or complaints from the hotel management.

Water will be provided on all courts at all venues and is available off court (to purchase or via drinking fountain) at each site.

Hot and cold food and beverages (available to purchase). 

A stringing service is available at both sites and there is a labor charge of $20.

A physio service is available at both sites.  On court service is complimentary.  Off court service is available at an additional charge.  Appointments can be booked in advance via


Due to organized transport restrictions at Miami International Airport, a collection/drop-off service will not be provided by the organizers and teams/players are responsible for arranging their own airport transportation.

Event transport (shuttle bus service) will be provided from the official hotels to all venues during the World Individual Championships.  A timetable for the shuttle bus will be provided in due course.

Tournament Functions

Celebrate with friends at "Havana 1957" and enjoy a delicious Cuban three course meal on world famous Ocean Drive.

Cost: $28.50 + $3.64 booking fee (fee includes a selection of 4 entrees, followed by dessert and coffee, tea or soft drink). 

Players must register to confirm their attendance and pay the stated fee by no later than Tuesday, October 23rd.  Guests are welcome to attend provided they register by the deadline and pay the stated fee.


In order to gain access to the function, players and guests must present the admission ticket issued through the registration process.  The registration link is available through the link below.  

Please note that transportation will NOT be provided for this event.

Registration & Credentials

All players must obtain an event credential in order to access the official transport services.  A credential issued during the Team Event will continue to be valid for the duration of the Individual World Championships and so team players do not need to apply for a new credential.

Registration is required to collect player credentials and welcome gift bag from the tournament.  If a player wishes to register outside of these times, please visit the ITF Tournament Desk at either tennis venue; however, you may be asked to return at a later time.  Please note, tournament registration will not take place at any of the tournament hotels.  

Practice Courts & Balls

 Ball Type:  Penn Championship

Four balls will be provided for all events.

New balls will be provided for the 3rd set in singles only.

Used match balls will be provided for practice (refundable deposit of $5 required).

Practice courts on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th October will be very limited due to the Team Championships taking place on these two days.  Practice courts will be made available on completion of team matches, at the discretion of the Referee.

Further information related to practice courts will be provided in due course.

Hospitality (Prize) Money

 Hospitality money will be paid for MAIN DRAW events only (not for Consolation events), as follows:

  • Singles winners $800US

  • Singles runners-up $500US

  • No hospitality money will be paid to Singles semi-finalists. 

  • Doubles/Mixed Doubles winners $600US per team

  • Doubles/Mixed Doubles runners-up $300US per team

  • No hospitality money will be paid to Doubles/Mixed Doubles semi-finalists. 

Payment will be made following the Event, either by cheque or bank transfer.
